Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and [OWNER: legal company name], [OWNER: registered address] (“we”, “us”) for the QuizAwesome app. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you are under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian.

1. Who can use the app
You must be 13 or older to create an account. Children under 13 may use the app only through a child profile set up and managed by a parent who has given verifiable consent (where available). A parent role (family linking, managed mode) requires you to be 18 or older. If local law requires a higher age to agree to these terms, you need a parent’s permission.
2. Your account
You sign in with your email and a one-time code. Keep access to your email secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Give a display name that isn’t offensive and doesn’t impersonate anyone. One person, one account.
3. Your study material
You keep all rights to the notes, PDFs and photos you add. You give us a limited licence to store and process them (including through our AI provider) only to build and run your exams. Only add material you have the right to use for your own study. Don’t upload anything illegal, sexual, violent or hateful, or anyone else’s personal information.
If you share an exam with a group, group members can study its questions (which may include short quotes from your material). Sharing stays within your groups: don’t share copyrighted textbooks or materials outside the limits of fair use or your licence. Members keep the questions if you later delete the exam or your account.
4. AI-generated content
Questions, answers, hints, explanations, topic maps, glossaries, grade predictions and tutor replies are generated by AI or estimated by software. They may be incomplete or wrong. They are study aids, not a substitute for your teacher, textbook or course materials, and predicted grades are estimates, not promises. If a question looks wrong, report it; we may refund the credit if we confirm the problem.
5. App blocking
Blocking is done by your own phone, with permissions you grant. You choose which apps to block and can remove the permission at any time in your phone’s settings. Calls, texts and emergency services are never blocked, emergency unlocks are always available (limited per day), and quiet hours are on by default. Blocking depends on your phone’s operating system and may not work perfectly on every device; don’t rely on it for anything safety-critical.
6. Community rules
Groups and chat are invite-only. Before your first message or game you agree to these rules:
- Be kind. No bullying, harassment, threats, hate, or sexual content. No pressuring anyone.
- No contact info. Don’t share phone numbers, addresses, social media handles or other ways to contact you or anyone else, and don’t ask others for theirs.
- No cheating others. Don’t manipulate games, scores or locks, or use the app to harm someone else.
- No illegal content, spam, or impersonation.
You can report any message, person, exam or question, and block anyone. We review reports within 24 hours and handle threats, self-harm and child-safety reports immediately. We may remove messages, remove people from groups, suspend accounts, or permanently remove accounts that break these rules, and we may report illegal content to the authorities. Group owners can remove members from their group.
Chats become read-only 2 days after the exam and are deleted 30 days after it.
7. Games where friends affect your screen time
Group games are opt-in. In some (for example Lock Wars and Leave No Man Standing), what other players do can add minutes to your blocked apps or keep them closed until the group succeeds. By joining such a game you agree to that. The stakes are shown before you join, and these limits always apply:
- Every lock can be cleared by studying.
- There is a daily cap on how much others can lock you, and each player can lock you at most once a day.
- Group games have time limits, so no one can keep you locked indefinitely.
- Leaving a game cancels any locks not yet delivered to or from you.
- Calls, texts and emergency are never locked.
Minutes, locks, shields and rewards have no cash value and can’t be sold or transferred.
8. The AI tutor
Pro members can chat with an AI tutor about a question. The tutor is software, not a person, and not a teacher, counsellor, therapist, doctor or crisis service. During an unlock quiz it won’t give you the answer before you’ve answered. Don’t share personal information with it.
If you are in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, talk to a trusted adult now, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), call your local emergency number, or find a helpline in your country at [OWNER: helpline directory link, e.g. findahelpline.com].
9. Family and parent-managed accounts
Linked parents. A student can link up to two parents; the student approves each link, chooses what each parent sees, and can unlink at any time. Linked parents can see a progress summary, approve extra-time requests and suggest a daily goal. They can’t control a 16+ student’s phone or see chat, notes or answers.
Managed mode. For students aged 13–15, managed mode starts only if both the parent and the student agree; it ends when the parent agrees or automatically at 16. For child profiles (under 13), the parent always manages the account. While managed, the parent sets blocking, bedtime, homework and unlock settings and a settings PIN. The managed student can always see that they are managed. A parent who manages an account agrees to use these tools in the student’s interest, to tell the student about them, and to supervise the student’s use of the app.
Child profiles. The parent is responsible for the child’s account, approves every group the child joins, can turn chat and the tutor on or off, buys any credits from their own account, and can delete the child’s profile at any time from Family.
10. Purchases, credits and subscriptions
- All purchases are made through the App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Prices are shown in the app before you buy. [OWNER: confirm final prices and plan contents.]
- Exam credits are used to generate an exam. The number of credits an exam costs depends on the size of your material and is shown before you confirm. If generation fails, the credits are refunded automatically. Credits are a licence to use a feature, have no cash value, can’t be transferred or exchanged, and [OWNER: do credits expire? state the rule].
- Plus and Pro subscriptions renew automatically each month at the price shown until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your App Store or Google Play account settings; deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription. Monthly included credits are added each paid period. [OWNER: do unused monthly credits roll over?]
- Restore purchases is available in the app.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. If a purchase is refunded, credits or plan benefits from it are removed, which can leave a negative credit balance.
- Taking an exam someone shared with you is free.
- Children cannot make purchases; parents buy from their own account.
11. Suspension and deletion
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Me → Delete account) or on our deletion page. Deletion is permanent and unused credits are lost. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or the law, or to protect other users; where reasonable we will tell you why. A suspended person can’t create a new account to get around the suspension.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will improve your grades. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by law. [OWNER/LAWYER: review for each launch country.]
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [OWNER: governing law]. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem. [OWNER/LAWYER: dispute resolution / venue clause; EU/UK consumers keep their local rights.]
We may update these terms. We’ll tell you in the app before a meaningful change takes effect; if you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.
14. Apple and Google
These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and we (not they) are responsible for the app and its support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies where it doesn’t conflict with these terms.
